The Knox County Career Center Basket auction to benefit Food for Fines will be held virtually this year.

The Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County is holding a Food for Fines event. Patrons can pay for their library fines with cat and dog food and non-perishable food items. One item is equivalent to $1.

Donate to Food For The Hungry and get a chance to win a gift card to your favorite coffee shop during the Battle of the Coffee Shops. A dollar or more donated at a participating shop is equivalent to one entry per day into the drawing for a gift card for that shop.

WHERE: The Blonde Robin, The Brickhouse Grind, Cotto’s Treats Bakery & Coffee House, Half Baked Cafe, Happy Bean Cafe, North Main Cafe and Wiggin Street Coffee.

Stop by the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County and get a free adult craft bag. Each bag contains materials that are needed to make a holiday gnome. Grab it while supplies last!

A weekly giveaway will be hosted by the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County. Giveaways will contain cookbooks, music CDs and other items. To enter, sign up at the circulation desk of the main library. A new basket will be up for grabs every Monday.

Come and participate at the 2020 Mount Vernon Festival of Lights! Showcase your skills by decorating the outside of your home and win a prize. The Kenyon Snowflake Gala to benefit Food For The Hungry will be online this year.

The Fredericktown Christmas Walk will feature a Gingerbread House Contest (a limited number will be on display at Aunt Ruth's Attic), crafts for kids at the Baptist church, WNZR coverage, along with ice sculptures and businesses decorated by high school art students. Vote for your favorite gingerbread house with a donation to Food For The Hungry, or give to any of the donation buckets available at downtown businesses. The event will kick off the online auction and virtual Santa Fun Run, which will both continue through Dec. 14.

Join the Ariel Park Foundation for some holiday shopping from local artists and vendors.

Experience the beauty of the season with a stroll through more than 600 luminaries, and listen to or sing along with small caroling groups during Candles & Carols. Social distancing measures will be in place. Masks are required when you cannot maintain a distance of six feet or greater. This event is in memory of Dick Murray and is sponsored by Murray, Rauzi, Kidwell and Cunningham.

Sunday, Dec. 6

Monroe Township Fire Association's second annual Toy Drive will be a drive-thru service. Bring a new unopened toy, drive up and one of the members will take the toy and put it in the box. All the toys will benefit the local Salvation Army and will stay here in Knox County.

Join the Art Therapy Zoom Group hosted by the New Directions Domestic Abuse Shelter and Rape Crisis Center. Breathing exercises and art directives will be used to cope with stress, bring attention to the present moment and express emotions. No need to be an artist! Supplies will be provided to participants. The group will be open to a maximum of 10 adult survivors and will meet six times during Tuesdays.
