MOUNT VERNON – Barbara F. Chadwick, 69, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home. She was born on May 7, 1951, in Mount Vernon, the daughter of John Hartsook and Ruby (Lang) Purtee. Barb worked thirteen years for the United Telephone Company, where she met the love of her life, and later worked for Kenyon College before retiring to be a stay-at-home mom.

Barb enjoyed being outside, taking care of her flower- and vegetable gardens and feeding the birds. She also liked to can and work on crossword puzzles. Most important to Barb was the quality time she spent with her family. 

She is survived by her husband, John Chadwick, whom she married on April 4, 1980; her children, William Chadwick of Centerburg, Mandy Holt of Danville, Gretchen (Jared) Welsh of Columbus, Lacy (Ryan) Lappie of London, Angie (Lance Marshall) Chadwick of Walhonding and Wesley (Danielle) Chadwick of Bladensburg; fourteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; siblings, Maurice Hartsook, Chris (Debbie) Hartsook, Jo Ellen (John) Ferullo and Karen (Melvin) Wade.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents. 

Friends may call on Thursday, Dec. 3, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, OH 43050; where a funeral service will begin at 6 p.m. The family asks that everyone follow mask protocol for the services.
