MOUNT VERNON – Vaughn W. Thomas, 88, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, at the Country Court Nursing Home. He was born on Dec. 26, 1931, in Lower Salem, Ohio, to the late Oscar and Hilma (Theiss) Thomas.

Vaughn was employed at The Ohio State University in Medical Repair for over 31 years and retired in 1987. He was a member of the Newark Road Church of Christ and was a veteran, serving in the United States Navy Seabees during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of more than 59 years, Alice (Norris) Thomas; his son, Mark (Heather) Thomas; his daughters, Vicki (Frank) Cowans and Lisa (Russ) Hughes; six grandchildren, Nick (Maurisa) Hughes, Hanna Hughes, Maliry Hughes, Megan Thomas, Alayna Thomas and Travis Thomas; his brothers, Vernon (Shirley) Thomas and John Thomas; and his sisters, Mary Skoglund and Dorothy Hesson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Knox County Fish and Game, Country Court Skilled Nursing Center – Activities Department, or to Honor Flight Columbus.
