Thomas Caputo turned in another victory at the Panther Invitational on Oct. 3 at Pickerington North.
Caputo ran a 16:09.3 to finish first out of 137 runners in Group B of the three-group event.
Caputo wasn’t the only Freddie to turn in a strong performance. Titus Krabil (seventh, 17:04.2), Evan France (ninth, 17:12.9), Grant Shrimplin (20th, 17:51.8) and Xavier Platt (24th, 18:17.8) helped Fredericktown win Group B with 56 points, beating out Granville (62) in the nine-team race.
Blake Johnson (17:52.1) and Alex Hayden (18:08.4) finished 14th and 17th, respectively, out of 133 total runners in Group C to help Centerburg finish fourth as a team with 120 points, losing out to Fisher Catholic (69) in the 11-team race.
Hunter Bolton (fourth, 17:07.1) and Joel Roberts (sixth, 17:23.7) led Highland, which finished fifth (123) just behind the Trojans.
East Knox (208) finished eighth, led by Hunter Keller (23rd, 18:24.9) and Samuel Whitney (28th, 18:37.3).
In the girls action, Elsa Hoam of Fredericktown ran a 19:40.8 to take top honors in the Group B race.
Teammate Natalie Vanmeter (21:14.0) finished fourth and Macy Thorne (21:57.5) finished 12th. But the Freddies (68 points) were edged by St. Francis DeSales (60) in the nine-team race.
Abigail Dickhof (20:17.9) finished fifth and Avery Tucker (20:33.0) finished seventh to lead Centerburg (134) to a fourth-place finish in the 10-team Group C race behind winner Jonathan Alder (40).
Taylor Severt (eighth, 21:02.2) and Lillian Thomas (17th, 21:46.6) led East Knox (136), which finished fifth just behind the Trojans.
Highland finished 14th as a team, but Camberly Shade (ninth, 21:03.2) and Mia White (10th, 21:03.2) each turned in strong performances for the Scots.
BEAR DEN DASH
Sophie Zoldak turned in a top-15 performance to lead the Mount Vernon cross country team at the Bear Den Dash at Olentangy Berlin on Oct. 3 in Delaware.
Zoldak ran a 20:05.5 to finish in 12th place out of 91 total runners at the race.
Zoldak led the Yellow Jackets to a 12th-place finish (313 points) out of 13 teams behind meet-winner Dublin Coffman (49).
Allena Klamorick of Canal Winchester won the race with a time of 19:06.5, and the Shamrocks had runners place fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh to take home team honors.
The boys team placed 14th (414) out of 15 teams behind winner Dublin Jerome (63). The Celtics had all five runners in the top 20 to edge Dublin Coffman (77).
Logan Eggert (17:47.7) placed 61st out of 102 total runners behind Liam Shaughnessy of Coffman, who won with a time of 15:35.3.
