MOUNT VERNON — A discount tool and equipment retailer, Harbor Freight, is expected to open its doors Thursday morning.

The store, located at 993 Coshocton Avenue in the Valley Plaza Shopping Center, offers customers more than 5,000 tools and accessories, from hand tools and generators to air and power tools, from shop equipment to automotive tools.

Harbor Freight signed the lease with Gorjian Acquisitions, the owner of Valley Plaza, in March. It will join Fiesta Mexicana, Dollar Tree, AT&T, Jackson Hewitt Tax Service, Holiday Hair and Shoe Sensation in the shopping center.

Harbor Freight began in 1977 and has over 1,000 stores in 48 states.

Another business will be opening soon in Bellville. Stoodts Market, which closed its doors in January, is expected to reopen Friday at its former location on South Main Street.

Georjean Stoodt, whose grandfather founded the store in 1926, joined forces with longtime employees Pat Hayes and Bernard Hollar to revive the store, according to reports. The store is being rebranded as Stoodts Fresh Market and will include nearly double the space for fresh produce and frozen foods.
