FORT MYERS, Fla. — April 30, 1949 – Feb. 6, 2020.
Emily, born in Petoskey, Michigan, was the third child to Ellis and Katherine Lashmit. In Junior High, Emily’s family moved to Mount Vernon, where she graduated from high school (1967) and attended Mount Vernon Bible College, studying theology and music. After Bible college, she returned to Petoskey, where she worked for Michigan Bell as an operator. Shortly thereafter, she married Michael Horsman. They raised their children in Battle Creek, Michigan, and owned Pennfield Pizza.
Emily earned an AA from Kellogg Community College (Business Management), a BA from Nazareth College (Business Administration), and MA from Western Michigan University (Communications). Upon retirement from KCC in 2012, she moved to North Ft. Myers, Floria.
Emily was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Katherine Lashmit; her stepmother, Venetta Lashmit; and infant daughter, Katherine Horsman.
Loved ones who will miss Emily until they meet again are her siblings, Leonard (LaNora) Lashmit, Ron Lashmit, Ruth (Dale) Slusher; her son, Matt (Lesley) Horsman; her daughter, Katie (Phil) Bates; her grandsons, Christopher, Jacob, and Luke Horsman; nieces and nephews; great-grandchildren, Altan and Braven Pfeuffer and Ellie Bates; and dear friend, John Jefferson.
