MOUNT VERNON — Hand-made crafts and life-enhancing items will be in abundance at the Winter Sanctuary Craft Fair on Nov. 9. The fair, a fundraiser for the Winter Sanctuary homeless shelter, will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the YMCA Sports Center, 200 W. Chestnut St.
Kelly Burris, co-weekend manager for the shelter and organizer of the show, said about 30 craft-makers and home-based businesses will be on hand.
Among the craft items will be macramé, leather items such as belts and keychains, and signs made out of out of pallets. Vendors offering gifts will include Avon (makeup, perfumes, clothing, and jewelry), Thirty-One Gifts (bags, totes and purses), Color Street (nail polish strips), and DoTERRA (essential oils).
“We are coming into the holiday season — getting into that mood,” said Burris. “It’s a chance to get some Christmas shopping done, maybe have a girls’ day, spend some time with friends or daughters, and have a good time.”
Among the products for the home will be scented wax warmers and lip balm.
Parking is available across Chestnut street from the Sports Center. Vendors will make available a lunch of shredded chicken and/or hotdogs, chips, cookies and a beverage, with proceeds benefiting the shelter.
Crafters and home-based businesses may rent space with a table. To inquire about renting a space, call Burris at 740-398-5839 or email her at kburris@columbus.rr.com
Fees for rental of space will go toward general operational costs of the shelter, said the shelter’s advocate/operations manager, Joseph Springer.
The shelter, which serves men and women, opens Nov. 1 and will be operation until May 1.
