GRANVILLE — Granville won its third straight game by shutout, and gained over 500 yards of offense in blanking LCL rival Utica, 63-0, on Friday.
The Redskins (0-5) gave up over 60 points for the second-straight game, and third overall. The Blue Aces (5-0), currently ranked second in Division III Region 11, ran 29 times for 356 yards to just 21 for 29 for Utica, and completed 14 of 20 passes for 180 yards and four TDs.
Before the first quarter was out, Granville led 28-0. Dominic Varasso caught a 12-yard TD pass from Bo Buttermore, and Doak Buttermore punched in from 1 yard out later. Varasso and Bo Buttermore connected for two more scores in the period, from 31 and 34 yards out.
The Blue Aces began the second quarter with a 33-yard Bo Buttermore TD run, and Devon Haley scored from the Utica 8 to make it 42-0. Varasso’s fourth TD catch of the half, a 3-yarder from Carsyn Crouch, put the lead at 49-0.
Granville scored twice with a running second-half game clock, on a 2-yard run by Crouch in the third quarter and a 1-yard Blake Rine run in the fourth.
Bo Buttermore was 7 of 11 for 120 yards and three TDs, and Crouch was 5 for 5 for 35 yards and a score. Rine completed 2 of 5 throws for 25 yards. Haley led the team’s rushers with 136 yards on 13 carries, and Doak Buttermore ran six times for 93 yards.
Brier Harris gained 16 yards on 11 carries for the Redskins, and Ethan Adams gained 50 yards on three receptions.
Utica will be home to face Newark Catholic next Friday at 7 p.m.
