Knox Community Hospital’s new 88,000-square-foot family care center will be named the Wright Family Medical Pavilion, in recognition of the strong support of Ariel Foundation for the project and the expansion of services it will mean for the community.
“Ariel Foundation and the Wright family have long been strong supporters of Knox Community Hospital and our continued efforts to provide a broad range of high-quality health services to our community,” said Bruce White, Chief Executive Officer at KCH. “They have been enthusiastic about this ambitious project right from the start, and we are very pleased that the new facility name will recognize and honor their contributions both to KCH and to our community.” The Wright Family Medical Pavilion will be home to a family-centered collaboration of services including Primary Care, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, and Women’s Health.
The centerpiece of the facility, a new birthing center, will also receive a new name, the Ann Schnormeier Center for Birthing Care. Ann Schnormeier served as both a trustee of Knox Community Hospital and member of the Board of Directors of The Foundation for Knox Community Hospital as the expansion project was developed. Ann and Ted Schnormeier were among the first to donate generously toward the project through The Foundation for KCH. “Ann Schnormeier was among the most passionate advocates for Knox Community Hospital and tirelessly worked to ensure that this community had the very best care available locally,” said White. “Not only will the name of our new birthing center recognize the Schnormeier’s generosity and leadership, it will ensure that Ann’s legacy will continue to live on with each new life that begins here in Knox County.”
Construction of the Wright Family Medical Pavilion continues to proceed at a rapid pace and Knox Community Hospital expects to open the new building in the first quarter of 2020.
