BLADENSBURG — Helen Marie Roberts McKee, 96, of Bladensburg, died Sunday, July 28, 2019, at Country Club Rehabilitation Campus in Mount Vernon.
She was born in Columbus Sept. 10, 1922, the daughter of Howard and Kathryn Roberts. After her mother’s death she was raised by her paternal grandparents, Thomas and Bessie Roberts in Akron.
She was married to Charles L. McKee, March 13, 1943, in Summit.
She had been an active member of the Bladensburg Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder and the Clerk of Session.
Helen helped her husband with the family farm. She had been a member of the Wakatomika Garden Club. As the children were growing up, she was active in 4-H and PTO. She and Charles were active in Farm Bureau Council, also.
She is survived by two children, Lester (Helen) McKee and Nancy (Wayne) Yost; six grandchildren, Cindy Miles, Barbara Cox, Tisha Melick, Tonya Mickley, Quinn Yost, and Chaya Matos; 14 great-grandchildren, Erin Miles, Sarah Miles, Ethan Cox, Trevor Cox, Kenton Mickley, Weston Melick, Shanda Melick, Cade Mickley, Shanna Mickley, Taryn Mickley, Zaphillia Yost, Zachary Yost, Ty Matos and Ana Matos.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Kathryn Blanche McKee McCune, her sister, parents and grandparents.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2:30 p.m. in Bladensburg Cemetery. The Lasater Funeral Home is handling the services for the McKee family.
