MOUNT VERNON — Four Knox County Area Boy Scouts were honored May 27 in a Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony.
The boys are Justin Thomas of Fredericktown, a graduating senior from Highland High School; Hudson Smith of Mount Vernon, a graduating senior home-schooler; Joseph Hedge of Butler, a graduating senior from Clear Fork High School and Luke Whitacre of Mount Vernon who will be a senior at Mount Vernon High School.
In order to achieve the rank of Eagle, the boys had to earn 21 merit badges and show leadership by planning, developing and completing a community service project. The rank of Eagle is earned by less than four percent of all youth who join Boy Scouts of America.
