Knox County Department of Job & Family Services is continuing to recognize community partners and individuals who assist in reaching the agency’s mission of making the lives of children and families better.

On International Women's Day, March 8, New Directions, in partnership with Women United of Knox County, will kick off their first-ever EmpowHER Event.

New Directions, Knox County’s domestic abuse shelter, will receive a $73,519 grant in funding Gov. Mike DeWine announced for victim service agencies in support of victims of family violence, domestic violence and dating violence during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since 1983 New Directions has been assisting the Knox County community in domestic, sexual and gender related violence cases, and in an effort to increase space and visibility in the community, the organization has put together a capital campaign with hopes of purchasing a new building.

Knox County’s New Directions will receive $25,000 in grants from the federal Violence Against Women Act program for its efforts to reduce violence against women.
