Virginia A Steagall, 88, of Bradenton, Florida passed away on Oct. 29, 2021, at Tidewell Hospice in Bradenton.

On Thursday, Nov. 18, the first person in history to accomplish the feat of receiving the Nobel Prize in two different disciplines will be the featured speaker at the Chautauqua Series. That person is Marie Curie and she will be portrayed by Tammy Souhrada, a seasoned Chautauqua performer. The program will be at the Grand Hotel, 12 Public Square in downtown Mount Vernon, at 7 p.m., and is brought to you on a donation basis, with all monies going to the performers.

The city’s latest round of infrastructure improvements is seeing maintenance performed on its nearly 70-year-old water reservoir, a process that began on Nov. 7.

The city will re-open Sandusky Street by the end of the month, but one intersection will have stop signs instead of traffic lights.
