The Danville Blue Devils (18-3, 7-0) bounced back from a non-conference loss with a pair of road wins over Knox Morrow Athletic Conference opponents Mount Gilead and Cardington-Lincoln.

The Indians proved to be no match for Danville on April 29, with Abi Sapp homering and driving in four runs to lead the Blue Devils to a crushing 22-1 win.

Danville went up 10-1 in the first inning, and then scored a run in each of the second and third innings. They continued their onslaught in the fourth inning with four runs, and then put six more on the board in the fifth to complete the blowout win.

Grace Gronberg and Addy Bocock combined for a one hitter and no earned runs in the win. Gronberg started and went three innings, allowing a hit and an unearned run, while striking out six. Bocock finished the final two innings perfectly, and struck out four batters along the way.

Sapp was 2-for-4 with a three-run shot, four RBIs and four runs to lead the Blue Devil offense. Bocock was 1-for-1 with an RBI and a walk. Broegan Staats tripled and went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and three runs. She also walked twice. Alicia Humphrey also had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs.

The only hit in the game for Mount Gilead was a double by Greer Simpson.

The next day, on April 30, Bocock pitched a shutout and struck out nine batters in a 2-0 win over Cardington-Lincoln.

The game was scoreless until the fourth inning. After Genevieve Longsdorf sat down Jaylyn Smith swinging, Humphrey followed with a double to left. She went to third on a wild pitch, but Gronberg struck out swinging. Ruby Bartok was then hit by a pitch, and Sapp drove in Humphrey on an RBI double to centerfield.

Danville had eight hits in the game, and four of them were doubles by Humphrey, Sapp, Bartok and Maddy Payne. Gronberg and Payne each went 2-for-3. Sapp was 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.

Bocock allowed three hits and one walk in the complete game shutout. Longsdorf pitched well in the loss, going all seven innings, allowing eight hits, two earned runs and a walk, while striking out 13 batters.
