Mount Vernon opens registration for holiday lighting competition

Experience Mount Vernon is inviting participants to register for the 2025 Festival of Lights Holiday Lighting Competition, sponsored by Knox Community Hospital. This annual event transforms Mount Vernon into a festive display of lights, showcasing the creativity of local residents and businesses.

The competition includes categories such as Best Classic White Light Display, Best Storybook-inspired Display, Best Light up the City Display, and Best Business/Storefront Display. Participants can also choose to have their displays listed without competing. Registration is open until December 8th at noon for those within Mount Vernon's city limits.

Once registration closes, Experience Mount Vernon will provide a map of the displays on their website and social media. The competition starts on December 12th at 6:00 p.m., with voting available until December 14th at 11:59 p.m. Winners will be announced on December 16th via Experience Mount Vernon's Facebook and Instagram pages.
