Park National Bank and Experience Mount Vernon are presenting the Winter in Downtown series of events in Mount Vernon, Ohio. The festivities aim to fill the city with holiday spirit through various community activities, including shopping, parades, and lighting displays.
On Saturday, November 29, the Mount Vernon Downtown Merchants will host Shop Small Saturday. This event encourages people to support local businesses and find unique gifts throughout downtown. Experience Mount Vernon is recognized as an American Express Neighborhood Champion for this initiative.
The following day, Sunday, November 30, features several events starting with a Holiday Memories Photo Booth sponsored by Dean’s Jewelry at the Mount Vernon Grand Hotel from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. This is followed by the Annual Holiday Parade at 4:00 p.m., sponsored by Burrata Woodfired. The parade theme "Once Upon a Holiday" invites participants to bring beloved holiday stories to life. Registration for parade entries closes on November 16, 2025.
At 5:00 p.m., Ariel Corporation sponsors the Lighting of Public Square, where holiday lights illuminate the city center. Pictures with Santa will be available at the Mount Vernon Grand Hotel from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., continuing on Wednesday, December 10.
The Festival of Lights Holiday Lighting Competition runs from December 12-14 and is sponsored by Knox Community Hospital. This contest showcases creative lighting displays from homes and businesses in Mount Vernon.
Lacey Filkins, Executive Director of Experience Mount Vernon, said these events "bring people together to celebrate the season, support local businesses, and create joyful memories."
