Mount Vernon hosts diverse events throughout September

Experience Downtown Mount Vernon has announced a series of events for September, highlighting the vibrant community life in the area. The events range from musical performances to cultural gatherings and aim to engage residents and visitors alike.

The month kicks off with the "Back to School" celebration on September 5, organized by The Parent Support Initiative of Knox County. This event will take place in downtown Mount Vernon from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Regular attractions include the Mount Vernon Farmers Market every Saturday morning at Public Square and the Sundays on the Square Artisan Market on September 7. On the same day, Mound View Cemetery will host "Hidden Stories of the Cemetery," providing insights into local history.

From September 8-14, SpongeBob the Musical Youth Edition will be staged at Knox Memorial. Tickets are available online for those interested in attending this family-friendly show.

A free concert presented by CES Credit Union is scheduled for September 13 at Ariel-Foundation Park, offering an evening of music for the community.

As the month draws to a close, adult craft enthusiasts can join Craft Night at The Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County on September 25. Kegs & Corks, an event by the Knox County Chamber, is set for September 27 in downtown Mount Vernon.

For music lovers, a tribute concert to Linda Ronstadt will be held on September 27 at Knox Memorial. Additionally, the Knox County Symphony Children's Concert is scheduled for September 28 at Ariel-Foundation Park.
