Heat advisory issued for parts of Ohio with index values up to 104 degrees

The National Weather Service in Cleveland, Ohio, has issued a heat advisory for Thursday. The advisory is set to be in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. EDT.

During this period, heat index values are expected to reach up to 104 degrees. The affected areas include portions of north central, northeast, and northwest Ohio. According to the service, "Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses."

The highest heat indices are anticipated to be concentrated roughly along and west of the I-77 corridor.

Residents are advised to take precautions such as drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned rooms, avoiding direct sunlight, and checking on relatives and neighbors. People should also wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing and limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening hours.

In case of symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke, immediate action is recommended.
