The American Red Cross Central & Southern Ohio Region has issued a call for blood and platelet donations throughout April, highlighting the increased need during seasonal travel. The organization is offering donors the chance to win a $5,000 gift card as an incentive. This announcement was made in a press release on April 1.
According to the American Red Cross, individuals who donate blood in April will be entered into a drawing to win one of three $5,000 gift cards. Additionally, those who donate between April 1-13, 2025, will receive a $15 Amazon.com gift card via email. Donors from April 14-30, 2025, will be given an exclusive Red Cross T-shirt while supplies last.
Blood donation events are scheduled across Knox County at various locations in April 2025. In Danville, donations will be accepted on April 15 from noon to 6 p.m. at Saint Luke Community Center. Gambier will host a drive on April 16 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kenyon College. Howard's event is set for April 3 from noon to 5:30 p.m. at Apple Valley, while Martinsburg’s event takes place on April 2 from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Martinsburg Community Center. Mount Vernon will hold its drive on April 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
In Licking County, blood donation drives include Granville on April 1 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church; Hebron on April 7 from noon to 6 p.m. at Hebron New Life Church; and Johnstown on April 2 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Johnstown Community Center. Newark hosts multiple drives at the Newark Blood Donation Center on various dates with hours from noon to 6:45 p.m., and Pataskala's event is scheduled for April 9 from noon to 6 p.m. at the American Legion Post.
