Youngstown State University (YSU) has announced the recognition of full-time undergraduate students, including Austin Smith and Caden Jordan, on the Fall 2024 Dean’s List. The announcement was made in a press release on February 24, 2025, through the YSU Merit Page.

According to the YSU Merit Page, Austin Smith from Fredericktown, Ohio, is studying integrated social studies education at Youngstown State University and previously attended Hubbard High School. Caden Jordan from Mount Vernon, Ohio, is majoring in psychology at Youngstown State University.

The Dean’s List honors undergraduate students who achieve academic excellence during the fall and spring semesters. Full-time students qualify by earning a minimum 3.4 GPA with at least 12 semester credit hours. Part-time students become eligible after accumulating 12 credit hours across both terms. Courses with grades of I, AU, CR, CRX, and PR do not count toward the 12-hour requirement but do not disqualify students if they meet the credit threshold. However, according to YSU, students who receive grades of D, F, or NC are ineligible for this recognition.

Certain courses such as specific English, math, and reading/study skills classes do not count toward eligibility. Courses at the 6900 level or above are included in the calculation. Students who qualify receive a certificate from their academic college and their achievement is officially announced on the YSU Merit Page.
