Edith W. Bickel, age 100, of Mount Vernon passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at the Country Club Retirement Campus.
She was born on December 3, 1922, in Mount Vernon to the late David and Myrtle (Beeman) Lahmon. Edith was employed as a cook for the Mount Vernon High School where she retired after many years of service. She enjoyed crocheting and made her family many afghans and scarves throughout her lifetime. Edith was a member of the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church.
Edith is survived by her daughter Shirley Leedy of Waterville, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her husband John Bickel; her daughter Sharon Gardner; her sisters Anna Beeman, Thelma Parker, Ileane Olley; and her brother Lloyd Lahmon.
A private graveside service was be held in the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
