Obituaries: Gary Alan Taylor | Snyder Funeral Homes

Gary Alan Taylor, 72, of Centerburg, Ohio passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023, at his home next to his loving wife, Kate. Gary was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on January 7, 1951. He graduated from Union Local High School in Belmont County. In 1985, he moved to central Ohio where he met his wife, Kate Hall. Gary was retired from JP Morgan Chase where he worked as a print operator. Gary leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Kate Taylor; brother Randy (Jeanette) Taylor; sisters Sandra (Max) Candiotty and Joyce Mann; sister-in-law Nancy Taylor; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Scott and Jane Hall. Gary joins in rest his parents Thomas and Agnes Taylor, brother Gerald Taylor and brother-in-law John Mann.

Gary was a quiet yet determined man. He was a tireless worker who was dedicated to his family, friends, and neighbors. He was a man of uncompromising principles and ethics. His personal relationship with God was demonstrated daily through his kind and selfless nature.

He enjoyed collecting and restoring pocket watches, old tractors (particularly Aliss-Chalmers and John Deere), and a variety of farm equipment. Gary gained an affinity for farm equipment while he was growing up on his parent’s dairy farm. Gary, an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing. However, his true passion was gardening. He grew a variety of vegetables, which he and Kate would can and preserve for their winter meals. As much as Gary loved to eat, he loved to cook, and Kate shared that he was very good at it. He was known to make a delicious pumpkin pie and a mean peanut brittle. He was a fan of the holidays, especially the 4 th of July and Christmas.

At the end of the day, Gary appreciated the joys of simplicity. He worked with his hands, he kept his word, he fed those he loved, and he enjoyed the food he grew and prepared. Gary was not concerned with the most popular person in town, but concerned himself with caring for the friends and family he was blessed to have. Above all else, he loved Kate and the two were inseparable from the day they met to the day of Gary’s passing. He was a good man and was be dearly missed.
