MOUNT VERNON – Robert “Bob” Hammond, 75, of Mount Vernon, passed away on April 14, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on April 16, 1947, to Ralph and Julianne (Gould) Hammond in Newark.
Bob was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Bob graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1966 and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed at Fairchild AFB in Spokane, Washington. He was a member of the Grace Community Church. He was a former member of the Moose and the Kinderhook Archery Club. Bob was a member of Mount Zion Masonic Lodge #9. Bob was an avid bowhunter, golfer and fisherman. He was a long-time member of the Gambier Fishing Club. He loved taking his grandchildren fishing and watching them play sports. He also loved spending weekends camping with friends. Bob loved riding his Harley, playing shuffleboard and spending the winters in Florida. Bob was an avid Buckeyes and Dallas Cowboys football fan and Nascar Racing fan. His favorite drivers were Jeff Gordon and Chase Elliott.
Bob is survived by his wife, Jona (Lore) Hammond; children, Shawn (Kimberly) Hammond of Mount Vernon, Amy (James) Quinlivan of Gambier, Curt Burson of Mount Vernon, Craig (Mandy) Burson of Sunbury, Nicole Grubaugh of Mount Vernon and Troy (DaLonne) Grubaugh of Altus, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, David (Sandra) Hammond of Columbus; nieces, Julie, June and Joy and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Debbie Hammond and grandchildren, Gage and Colin Quinlivan.

Calling hours were Wednesday, April 19, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home ~ Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Rd., Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. There was a memorial service at 1 p.m., followed by a burial of ashes at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
