MOUNT VERNON – Earl Eugene Fry, 85, of Mount Vernon passed away on Monday, Sept. 5, 2022, at Country Court Skilled Nursing Center. He was born on November 17, 1936, in Bellville, Ohio, the son of Earl D and Juanita (Miller) Fry. Earl earned his B.S. in education from Wittenberg College and a master’s degree from Bowling Green State University, then taught and coached for 37 years.
Earl not only poured himself into his family, he poured into countless others who called him teacher, coach or friend. Earl loved to tell stories of his family, his teams, his friends and anything else he could remember. He especially enjoyed family gatherings and researching genealogy.
He is survived by his sons, Steve Fry, Stan Fry, Mike (Wendy) Fry, and Bill (Debi) Fry, all of Mount Vernon; his daughters, Peggy (Jeremy) Wise of Frazeysburg and Nancy (Sam) Tripi of Buffalo; his grandchildren, Jackson, Emily, Nathan (Malary), Randilynn (Zac), Katelynn (AJ), Jared (Clairanne), Ryan, Haylee and Samantha; and great-grandchildren, Leona, Tucker, Raelynn, Thatcher, Nick, Chloe, Ebreylynn, Brennen, Lily, Nora, Mara and Jada. He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters: Gerald (Phil) Fry and Dale Fry of Bellville; Joyce Fry of Dublin; and Karen (Richard) Rudsell of Fletcher; as well as numerous extended family.
He was preceded in death by Patty Ann Fry, his wife of 58 years, and his parents.
Friends may call on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 1-3 p.m. at New Life Church of the Nazarene, 665 Harcourt Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050, where a Celebration of Life Service will begin at 3 p.m. Pastor Jeff “Bo” Fry will be officiating.
