GRANVILLE – Nineteen new baskets were installed at the Lobdell Disc Golf Course as part of a partnership between the Licking Park District and the Columbus Flyers Disc Golf Club.
With these new baskets, the Lobdell course will remain one of the top courses in the state. With the donation and installation of the new baskets, the Columbus Flyers Disc Golf Club continued its volunteer service in assisting with the maintenance of the Lobdell course.
The new baskets will meet the modern-day disc-catching requirements of the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) for different tiers of tournaments: C-tier, B-tier, A-tier and Elite series.
The Columbus Flyers Disc Golf Club is a member-driven local nonprofit organization. Its mission is to promote the sport of disc golf throughout central Ohio. It works with local parks and recreation departments to design, install and maintain courses in the area, as well as host events that promote competition and camaraderie while supporting the local community.
The club holds two large tournaments at the Lobdell course each year, bringing hundreds of participants and observers to the park.
“In 2021, the club reached out to its members looking for feedback on course projects,” said club president Kristy Moore. “The feedback was overwhelming that club members and local disc golfers wanted to see new baskets at Lobdell Reserve Disc Golf Course. With the decision made, all that was left was to get approval from the Licking Park District, order the baskets, and plan a work-day for installation. On Dec. 31, 2021, our club members and volunteers installed 19 new Innova Discatcher baskets. We look forward to continuing our relationship with the Licking Park District and improving the disc golf course at Lobdell Reserve for years to come.”
Lobdell Reserve Disc Golf Course is located at 5474 Battee Road in Alexandria, Ohio.
