GAMBIER – James V. ‘Jim’ Ingerham, 94, of Gambier passed away on April 11, 2022, at the home of his great-niece, Courtney Gibson. He was born Jan. 9, 1928, to James and Naomi (Graves) Ingerham in Columbus.
He graduated from South High School in 1946. He then enlisted in the Army and was Honorably discharged in 1947. After attending Bowling Green College, he graduated with High Honors from Fresno State College, California in 1951. He was then employed by the Madera County Schools in California as a teacher. In 1961, he returned to Ohio & continued to teach. After serving 17 years with the Mount Vernon Schools, he was appointed one year as principle-teacher at Northridge Schools in Licking County. He then retired from teaching in 1979. In 1983, he was appointed then elected to the College Township Board of Trustees until 2013.
He was a 60-year member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Gambier. Jim was very active in the community and the restoration of the Quarry Chapel.
Jim is survived by his brother Fred (Toni) Ingerham; Great-niece and end of life caretaker Courtney (Bryan) Gibson; nieces Joan (Jack) Koers, Jill (Bob) Gavin; Jodi (Jim) Chamberlain, as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, 619 Newark Road; Monday, April 18, from 11 – 1 p.m. with a Funeral Service at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Quarry Chapel Cemetery with full Military Honors.
Jim was extremely proud of his service for our Country.
The loves of his life were fast cars, rock and roll music, Clara Bow, Louise Brooks, Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald & other stars of the 1920’s, America’s Golden Age!
