Stark County, only 75 miles from Mount Vernon, has a busy April planned with events that will attract visitors from across Ohio and the nation, according to a news release.
The Canton Light Festival will features displays downtown Canton on Fridays and Saturdays in April, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
"Light projections, interactive displays, and mural mapping will pepper the landscape along Court Ave NW between 2nd and 5th Streets NW," the news release said. "The premier show will occur during the April 1 First Friday festivities."
The event that will "brighten the sky and amaze visitors" is free.
From April 22-24, the Canton Hall of Fame Marathon will attract more than 7,000 runners from all 50 states. There will be a health and fitness expo on Friday, April 22, the Earth Day 5K and Kids Mini- Marathon on Saturday, April 23. The marathon and half marathon will be on Sunday, April 24.
On Saturday, April 30, top high school football athletes from across the state will compete in the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association North-South Classic at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium in Massillon.
"The first game kicks off at noon and features Divisions IV, V, VI, and VII athletes," the news release said. " Game two begins at 4 p.m. featuring Divisions I, II, and III athletes." Find out more information about the North-South Classic here.
Other events in April include the 2022 Great Lakes Regionals Gymnastics – Free to Fly event at North Canton Hoover High School April 8 & 9. The Canton Ballet will presents “Snow White” at the Canton Palace Theatre April 24.
