CENTERBURG – Knox Community Hospital (KCH) and Equity Construction Solutions (ECS) broke ground recently to mark the start of the construction for a $9 million, approximately 17,000-square-foot KCH Centerburg health-care facility on Columbus Road.

According to a press release, the new facility will feature primary and specialty care offices, outpatient imaging, physical therapy, a fitness center, therapy pool and more. The exterior of the development will provide space for things like a yoga center, a detention pond and hiking trails.

Leading the groundbreaking was ECS CEO Steve Wathen and vice president Dave Jones and Knox Community Hospital CEO Bruce D. White, while several leaders and stakeholders made comments during the ceremony, including KCH Board chair Sam Barone, Centerburg Mayor Greg Sands and others.

“The Centerburg community is growing with young professionals, families and an increasing population of age 65-plus,” White said. “This makes it a good fit for KCH growth. We’re excited to soon be able to offer an array of high-quality health-care services, such as family medicine, specialty care, physical therapy, diagnostic imaging and much more in a convenient location for families who live, work or play in the Centerburg area.”
