HOWARD – John S. Young, 51, of Howard died Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, at his home.
John was born Aug. 31, 1970, in Barberton to Don and Peggy (Lowther) Young.
John graduated from Green High School in Akron in 1988, then later graduated from Cincinnati Christian University after starting at the University of Akron.
John moved to Knox County in 2008 and began working as a dispatcher for Knox County 911. Most recently, he was a dispatcher for Knox Area Transit. John loved to play football in his youth. He loved to travel and studied Korean culture extensively. John and James were able to travel to South Korea and Japan.
John will be deeply missed by his mother, Peggy (Paul) Higgins of Mount Vernon; brother James R. Young of Apple Valley; stepmother Nancy (Dan) Dodson of Medina; step-sister Tonya (Doug) Fisher of Northfield Center; step-grandpa Charles Stobaugh; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
John was preceded in death by his dad, grandparents and his aunts, Amy Rine and Juanita Reynolds.
Friends may call Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home - Mount Vernon Chapel, Mount Vernon. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Heil officiating.
