Knox Public Health has posted a notice on vaccine availability that will be updated regularly as conditions change. Ohio is in Phase 2, with vaccine eligibility now for those 12 and older. The Health Department asks those who qualify to send an email to info@knoxhealth.com indicating name, age and phone number; unless they have done so already. Visit gettheshot.coronavirus.ohio.gov to check eligibility and available sites. For more information about COVID-19 vaccination in Knox County, call 740-392-2200. Residents who have already received their first shot can also register at ohiovaxamillion.com to be entered in to win prizes based on their age bracket.

SNAP-Ed is now providing virtual programming to eligible audiences! Knox County SNAP-Ed staff member Tanner Cooper-Risser will be providing a virtual series called "Eating for the Health of it" with Opportunity Knox. We will be discussing tips on making healthy food choices and ways to save money while still following a healthy lifestyle. Knox County families with children age 18 and under — and pregnant moms — can take advantage of the Fruit & Vegetable Coupon Program, a program from the Ohio Nutrition Incentive Network. Eligible families can sign up at the Mount Vernon Public Square to receive a Fruit & Vegetable Coupon booklet worth $40 to use. Look for the Produce Perks tent. Recipients must meet income guidelines and be U.S. citizens.

Mount Vernon City Schools will participate in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex or disability; and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. All sites will be serving grab-and-go breakfast and lunch.

June's First Friday Welcome Back to Downtown celebration commemorating the first large-scale event to take place in the Central Business District since the shutdown! Sponsored by Riverside Recovery Services, June's First Friday will feature local talent, The Bonafides, on the Main Stage located on Gambier Street along the South Main Plaza; with the secondary stage featuring local talent sponsored by Happy Street Bru-Werks. The Food Truck Trail provided by Knox Foodies; Activity Zones with fun, family-friendly activities and the return of the Cruise-In sponsored by A+ Autobrokers! With over 50 vendors, there will be something for everyone; and for the first time ever, vendors at First Fridays will be able to sell their products!

The sixth annual Junior Golf Camp at Irish Hills Golf Club, for ages 6–11, is limited to 25 spots. Camp includes three days of instruction and a tournament held on Friday, followed by a picnic. There is a $99 fee and participants must have a set of golf clubs. Register at irishhillsgolfclub.com

Friday, June 11

The Station Break Senior Center will be hosting a "Fish Fry Drive-Thru" fundraiser. The funds raised will go toward an outdoor courtyard and activity area. Meals, $10 each, consist of beer-battered fish, fries, cole slaw, hush puppies and dessert. Delivery is available to businesses only, for orders of five meals or more pre-ordered by 2 p.m. on June 10 to meredith@stationbreak.org.
