MOUNT VERNON – Rolly Dean Devore, 85, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 3, 1936, in New Matamoras, Ohio, to Brady John and OraMae {Patterson} Devore.
He married Theressa Ann Evans on April 30, 1955.
Rolly worked many years for Chattanooga Glass Company, retiring in 1986. His passion was writing songs. Rolly wrote over 900 songs, starting in the early ’60s. He enjoyed camping in Marietta with his family. Rolly loved meeting new people. He would tell them about his songs, and he always had jokes.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife; his children, Sheila (Kim) Horlacher, Anthony (Virginia) Devore, Robert Devore and Michael (Becky) Devore; grandchildren, Matthew, G.R., Anthony II, Robbie, Chad, Abby and Chris; and great-grandchildren, Lathan, Zoe, Kailin and Braxton. Rolly had 14 brothers and sisters; surviving are Susan (Bill) Lamp, Phyllis McCoy and Bonnie (Clete) Miles; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Rolly was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Clifford, Grace, Lillian, Blanche, AdaMae, Brady, Boyd, Lester, Richard, Norma Jean and Anna Ruth; and a grandson, Michael
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday at Roberts Funeral Home-Mount Vernon Chapel, Mount Vernon. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m., also at Roberts. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
