MOUNT VERNON – The Mount Vernon City Engineer's Office has reported that there will be temporary lane closures on April 6–7.
Lane closures will be on Chestnut Street between Mulberry Street and Gay Street, as well as Main Street between Sugar Street and Public Square. The closures will be to install new foundation for a new traffic signal at the Chestnut and Main intersection. The closures will begin on Tuesday, April 6, at 8 a.m. and are expected to be complete at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7.
Both roads will be open for emergency traffic, with at minimum one lane open.
The closures were requested by both the Engineering Department and Perram Electric Inc.
