MOUNT VERNON – On Wednesday, March 17, 2021, in the early morning hours Robert L. Martin loving husband and father passed away at the age of 67 following a short battle with COVID. Bob was born on Jan. 17, 1954, in Mount Vernon and raised in Martinsburg. He graduated from Utica High School in 1972. On Nov. 17, 1972, he married the love of his life Karen E. Moore, they raised two daughters Melissa and Bethany. He joined the Army National Guard in 1975 and served six years.
He was a wonderful man who never met a stranger. His smile brighten the room, his kindness and love was felt by many. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and loved to travel and ride his Harley with family and friends. Bob was a retired owner operator semi driver and had logged over a million miles.He was a member of Grove Church of Christ and recently attended Central Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife and true love Karen, his children Melissa Martin - Davidson, Bethany (John) Swetnam. His grandchildren Kylie, Jesse, Tyce and Elizabeth, his sisters Paula Rowley, Nancy Cochran, Kay Mills and a brother Rick (Linda) Rowley and sister-in-law Becky Martin.
Bob was preceded in death by his father Jesse, and mother Virginia, brother Robert R. Martin and grandson Logan K. Davis.
A graveside service will be held Monday, April 5, at 11 a.m. at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens,18260 Coshocton Road, Mount Vernon.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Central Christian Church on 229 East on Monday, April 5, from 4 to 6 p.m. with Memorial service at 6 p.m.
