The Danville girls basketball team scored the first seven points of the game and never trailed in a 59-42 win over visiting Mount Gilead to open Knox Morrow Athletic Conference play on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
MG scored the next four points to close the gap, but the Blue Devils (2-0, 1-0) scored the final 10 points of the first quarter and extended the run through the second, leading 33-10 at the break.
Alenah Boeshart scored four of Danville’s first seven points and caught fire with three 3-pointers, scoring 13 of her game-high 19 points in the second half. She added five rebounds, five assists and three steals to her ledger.
Ella Proper paced the Devils with 10 points during the first half rally and finished with 18 points, three steals and three rebounds. Danville had 21 steals for the game, along with 17 assists and 26 made baskets.
Mount Gilead (0-1, 0-1) went on a 10-0 run in the third quarter to help close the gap. Kaitlynn Pfeifer led MG with 12 points; and Madilyn Elson added 10 points, six steals, four rebounds and three assists.
Brooklyn Hess put in a well-rounded performance for Danville with nine points, seven steals, seven rebounds and six assists; and Jaylyn Workman added four points, six rebounds, three steals and a pair of assists.
Candace Millisor pulled down a game-high nine rebounds to go with four points, four steals and a couple of assists; and Holly Gompf had eight points, five steals, four rebounds and two assists for MG; which won the rebounding battle 34-30.
Centerburg 63, Northmor 46
Rebecca Scholl scored 12 of her 18 points in the second quarter as Centerburg took control. The Trojans, who trailed 12-11 at the end of one quarter, parlayed a 22-8 second frame into a 63-46 win over the Golden Knights in a KMAC opener on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
Clara Johnson also scored 18 points for the Trojans (2-0, 1-0) and Chloe Goulter added 16 points.
Lexi Wenger led the Knights (0-2, 0-1) with a game-high 22 points; and Paige Caudill added eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers in the opening period.
Cardington-Lincoln 42, Fredericktown 34
Dana Bertke scored six of her team-high 12 points in the fourth quarter to help visiting Cardington beat Fredericktown 42-34 in a KMAC opener on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
Bertke and Beth Hardwick each knocked down 3-pointers in the final frame as the Pirates (1-0, 1-0) outscored the Freddies 13-3 in the final frame after Fredericktown led 31-29 at the end of three quarters.
Hardwick and Kambry Edwards scored 10 points apiece for Cardington.
Summer Weller knocked down three 3-pointers and scored 11 of her game-high 15 points as Fredericktown led 20-17 at the end of the first half.
Jacklyn Nussbaum added eight points for the Freddies (1-1, 0-1).

Boys basketball
Elijah Larue caught fire with three 3-pointers in the second quarter to help Utica build a 25-14 lead at the break. But Carson Rife scored 17 of his game-high 23 points in the second half as host Elgin rallied to a 44-41 victory in non-league play in Marion.
Larue, Seth Cooper and Zach Heckman scored 12 points apiece to lead Utica (0-1). Larue did all of his damage on 3-pointers.
Harrison Sager added 12 points for the Comets (1-0).
