Mount Vernon Police incident reports Oct. 20-26

The following incidents were reported by the Mount Vernon Police Department.

Oct. 20

Individuals living in woods

• Incident report - At 3:29 a.m. - Cherry Street and Maplewood

Individuals were confronted by police and notified camping in the city is disallowed.

The campers were provided 24 hours to clean up their campsite.

Oct. 21

Investigation continues for “suspicious individual”

• Incident report - At 1:09 a.m. - near N. Mulberry Ave. and W. Curtis St.

Police reported a suspicious individual was observed by a police officer.

“Investigation continues,” the officer’s narrative reads with no other details.

Oct. 23

Facebook hacker sends threatening messages

• Incident report - At 12:18 a.m. - 350 Fairgrounds Road

Police responded to a harassment call.

The officer reported a male and a female alleged their Facebook accounts had been hacked and the hacker was directing threatening messages toward the pair.

Property found at hospital

• Incident report - At 7:07 a.m. - Knox Community Hospital

Police responded to a call regarding property found at the hospital.

Mount Vernon High School assault investigated

• incident report - At 2:59 p.m. at 1330 Coshocton Ave. police responded to a call at the Know County Hospital regarding an assault that occurred at Mount Vernon High School.

Bike located

• Incident report - At 7:43 a.m. - 201 Sunset St.

Police reported a bike was found, which was taken to impound and processed.

Oct. 25

Man arrested in drugs investigation at mobile home park

• Arrest report - At 12:54 a.m. - the Orchard Mobile Park located at 717 North Sandusky

Jeremiah S. O’Neil was arrested for a warrant. Police reported the incident was drug-related. They were dispatched to the area in search of a suspicious person.

O’Neil was transferred to the Knox County Jail awaiting transport to the Wyandot County Jail.

Domestic abuse victim suffers facial wound

• Incident report - At 1:24 a.m. - 406 North Park Street

Police resounded to a domestic violence call.

A female with a deep cut under her eye was met by police at the scene. She was transferred to the Knox County Hospital.

An unnamed male was later arrested as part of the investigation.

Man arrested in beating of woman

• Arrest report - At 3:06 a.m. - 113 E. Pleasant St.

Several police units met and arrested Robert R. Humphrey for domestic assault.

Witnesses allegedly told police Humphrey put his hand on a woman’s throat before striking her.

A witness said Humphrey had to be removed from the victim prior to police arrival.

Humphrey denied involvement in the incident before being arrested and transported to Knox County Jail.

Backyard heist caught on video

• Incident report - 12:02 a.m. - 105 W. Lamertine St.

Police responded to the report of a theft. A security video taken on scene allegedly shows an unknown male taking items from the resident’s yard.
