MOUNT VERNON – In a fantastic opportunity to showcase Knox County, HGTV's primetime TV show "House Hunters" took viewers on a journey around Mount Vernon, showing off the plentiful amount of treasures the historic town offers to its residents and weary travelers.

Mount Vernon News spoke with Rebekah Mullins, a realtor recently featured on a "House Hunters" episode set in Mount Vernon, to learn more about how the television show has impacted the community.

"Mount Vernon and Knox County is a wonderful community and great place to call home, Mullins explained. "'House Hunters' did a nice job showcasing some of the treasures of our county. Not only did they share some of my personal favorites in our community, but they highlighted some of the local real estate as well. This is a proud moment for any Realtor and resident of our county to share what the local housing market looks like with America!  With that in mind, people who love and watch HGTV are going to love what they see and be drawn to this area too."

Knox Country has grown in recent years, not just because it is an attractive community but also because it is in "commuting distance to Columbus, Mansfield, Zanesville, Wooster and more," Mullins added. "With our community being showcased and sharing some of our most favorite places and highlighting (the) community, (it) will in my opinion draw more people to come explore our area."

HGTV's "House Hunters" has become something of a national sensation, drawing a consistent viewership of over 25 million fans on a monthly basis. The show has proven to be a huge opportunity for Mount Vernon to attract new residents. In addition to the show being great for the community as a whole, Mullins made it clear that her personal experience with the show was also great.

"I truly enjoyed my experience from start to finish," she said. "It was interesting to see how many people it takes to make a show like this go, but each person I met along the way was just amazing! Everyone was personable, professional and clearly loved what they do with HGTV. With that in mind, it made my experience a fun one to be part of with my clients."

When asked whether she would participate on the program again, she offered an emphatic, "YES!"
