Volleyball roundup: Highland perfect in league play for the 8th consecutive year

Ashlynn Belcher served up 11 aces to lead Highland to a 25-14, 25-13, 25-12 win over host Northmor on Oct. 15 in Galion to wrap its eighth consecutive undefeated season in league play.

Makenna Belcher had 10 kills and 14 digs and Kendall Stover added nine kills and five aces, Zoya Winkelfoos dished out 13 assists to go with five aces and Ashlynn Belcher also had 13 assists to lead the Scots (20-1, 14-0).

Utica def. Granville 25-19, 24-26, 16-25, 25-20, 15-11

Host Utica came back from a set down to beat Granville in Licking County League play on Oct. 15.

Laini Crawmer served up six aces and Bella Ellis and Georgia Gamble each served up five for Utica (4-16, 4-11), who had 21 as a team.

Crawmer and Lily Borem had 10 kills apiece, Bella Ellis had 17 assists and Emily Ellis dished out 11, Sydnie Teibout had 17 digs and Borem had four blocks to lead Utica.

Gabby Black had 24 kills, 21 digs and 18 assists, Livi Wells had 19 kills and 24 digs, Gracie Mack had dished out 26 assists, Emily McNabb served up five aces to lead the Blue Aces (13-9, 8-6).

Defensively, Kaylin Fuhrman had 18 digs, Ava Poling had 11 digs and Bella Wildermuth had three blocks to lead Granville.

Highland def. Danville 25-11, 25-7, 25-5

Zoya Winkelfoos (seven aces) and Abby Eusey (four) combined to serve up 11 of Highland’s 18 aces in a straight-set win over Danville on Oct. 13 in Sparta.

The win clinched the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference championship outright for the Scots.

Makenna Belcher had 13 kills, Kendall Stover added 10 and Cassady Sagar served up eight.

Cardington-Lincoln def. Centerburg 25-20, 25-12, 25-18

Audrey Brininger had 15 kills to lead host Cardington to a straight-set win over Centerburg in KMAC play on Oct. 18.

Liz Long had 19 digs and served up five aces and Kyleigh Bonnette had 36 assists to lead the Pirates.

Northmor def. Fredericktown 25-20, 25-20, 14-25, 25-13

Fredericktown caught fire in the third set, but fell to Northmor in four in KMAC play on Oct. 18 in Galion.

Lindsey Boeshart had 12 kills and Audrey Bouton added 11 for the Freddies. Boeshart also led with 23 digs and Grace Sipes added 22.
