Interview with Ellen Smith, owner of Good Impressions.

Question: What's unique about Good Impressions in Mount Vernon?

Answer: I think the thing that stands out to our customers is, number one, we try to offer a professional product and whatever our customers need. A lot of our things are custom. It just depends on whatever they want. What stands out to our customers is our customer service.

Q: What services do you have to offer?

A: We have two large laser printers that we can do full color on. They do booklets. They staple. They three-hole punch. They do all that in one machine. We also have two wide-format printers that will do posters and larger things like that. We can also print on canvas. We can scan or take a picture of someone's artwork and print it. We have a very large machine in the back that can print on vinyl. We can do auto decals and things like that. We provide a lot of services that people might not think about.

Q: What does Good Impressions do for the community?

A: We offer a valuable service. People can get all of our services done locally. They don't have to run to Columbus or shop online. We can get it done. We are in the community. I always encourage people to shop local.

Q: How has COVID-19 impacted your business?

A: It definitely has. We're just a family business. It's just myself, my husband and my son. We're managing to get through it. When things shut down at first, it was like the bottom fell out. We do a lot of printing for events and those events ended up getting canceled because of COVID-19. We're just trying to get through it the best we can.

Q: What do you see for the future of your business?

A: We would like to do more auto decals and truck wraps. It's all a learning experience. We would like to expand in that direction.
