Jack D. Zedaker

MOUNT VERNON — Jack D. Zedaker, age 86, of Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, at Knox Community Hospital. He was born May 13, 1933 in Buffalo, Ohio, the son of Kenneth and Vera (Wilson) Zedaker. Jack proudly served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955. He retired in 1996 from the Continental Can Company.
Jack was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4027, Amvets Post #95 and Colonial City Moose Lodge #2555. He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #760. Jack enjoyed fishing, but most important to him was quality time spent with his family. He coached Little League for many years and was always involved in his children’s activities.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joyce (Hayner) Zedaker; his children, Wendy (George) Tinkham of Howard, JD (Marie) Zedaker of Fort Myers, FL, Linda (Gary) Vance of Mount Vernon, Patti (Jeffrey) Spence of Fredericktown and John (Sabrina Ary) Zedaker of Howard; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jerry Zedaker of Hemlock, MI.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffrey Zedaker; great grandchildren, Caleb Zedaker, Garrett Vance and Sonja Zedaker; a brother, Carroll Zedaker; and a sister, Neva Buchler.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday beginning at 12 noon at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
