MOUNT VERNON — The Wooster Generals were in dominant form against the Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets during Tuesday’s boy’s soccer game in the newly restructured stadium at Mount Vernon High School. The Generals cruised to a 7-0 victory over the host Jackets.

The first hint of Wooster’s dominance came when a General scored the first of Wooster’s seven goals within the first two minutes of the first half of the game (at 38:20). This quick General goal was followed by two more consecutive General goals by Grant Webster at minute 26:09 and minute 25:40 of the first half of the game. Generals’ goals were also scored at minute 14:12, and at 0:14 of the first half.

The Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets proved to be much more astute defensively in the second half of the game after only giving up two goals at minute 32:50 and towards the end of the half at 7:20. The final goal at minute 7:20 of the second half was kicked by Francis Sim of the Generals.

Scott Dapprich, head coach for the Jackets, agreed with the sentiment that the Wooster Generals were a more experienced team and that the younger Jackets team played a much better second half in terms of defense.

“Wooster has a good solid team and we’re a young team,” said Dapprich. “We frequently had guys out of place and out of position. We need to start making adjustments as a young team.”

The Jackets return to action Saturday, traveling to Mansfield Christian for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Flames.
