MOUNT VERNON — The next meeting of the Knox County Historical Society will be held Wednesday evening, May 1, at 7:30 p.m. at the KCHS Museum, 875 Harcourt Road, in Mount Vernon.

The program will be presented by students from the Mount Vernon Middle School who have recently competed in the regional and statewide Ohio History Day competition, featuring recreations of historical personalities and events, as well as their created documentaries, websites, dramatic presentations, etc.

This year’s overall theme, “Triumph and Tragedy in History,” gives students the opportunity to go beyond traditional events and dates in history to incorporate stories from science, literature, art and mathematics, showing how these disciplines are interrelated while illustrating how both failure and success can contribute to societal and cultural growth.

The meeting is free and open to the public, and all persons interested in area history are invited to attend. For more information, call the museum at 740-393-5247, or check the website at www.knoxhistory.org.
