Gerald Wayne ‘Jerry’ Harris

MOUNT VERNON — Gerald Wayne “Jerry” Harris, 74, of Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at Knox Community Hospital.
He was born Nov. 30, 1944, in St. Clairsville, the late Robert and Frances (Ault) Harris. Jerry was employed at United Telephone, which later became Sprint Telephone, from which he retired. After retirement, he started his own business called H&C Telephone. Jerry was a member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge #2555 and was also in the United States Merchant Marines. He also was a member of Hiawatha Golf Course which was considered his second home.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Barbara (Hynes) Harris; two daughters, Lisa Lybarger, Becky (Bill) Salyer; two sons, Ronnie (Pam) Carruthers, Colonel Daniel (Sarah) Thompson; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his sister, Connie (Tom) Costine.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Kenny Harris.
Friends may call Monday, April 1, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, from 5 - 7 p.m.
