Community Health Center now in Danville

DANVILLE — Wednesday, the Knox County Community Health Center will open a second office in Danville. The health center will operate at 16 E. Main St, in the space formerly occupied by Dr. Tidyman and most recently, Knox Community Hospital. For now, the new medical office will be open as needed, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Health Center’s main location is inside the Knox County Health Department, 11660 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon. Appointments for the Danville location can be made by calling the main Health Center number, 740-399-8008. Walk-ins are also welcome at the new location.

Nurse Practitioner Jennie McClain will be the health provider at the new location. She will treat patients for a variety of chronic and acute health conditions including the flu, sinus infection, diabetes, COPD and high blood pressure. Well-child exams will be available, as well as DOT physicals and exams required for work, school and sports.

The new Health Center office is open to patients of all ages. There is a sliding fee scale based on household income and discounted costs for tests and screenings.

The health department secured federal funding to open the primary health center which opened in April 2017. An additional grant application is being submitted to secure funds to make Danville a full-service location, open five days a week. Notification regarding the additional funding is expected in September.
