MOUNT VERNON — Shirley M. Atkins, 83, of Mount Vernon passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, at her home with her family at her side.
She was born Jan. 27, 1936, in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, to the late Homer and Marie (Stiver) Deahl. Shirley was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Hill Church.
Shirley is survived by her husband of nearly 49 years, Donald Atkins; her daughters, Christine (Tom) Ross, Jacqui (Paul) Akert; her son, Dean (Sue) Ruddock; four grandchildren, Landra (Will) Houston, Nicole (Luke) Wickline, Jennifer (Josh) Johnson, Christopher Ruddock; five great-grandchildren; her brother, Jack Deahl; and her sisters, Sally (Dick) Kriser, Nancy Wallace, Pat (Ken) Lewis and Peg (Dan) Mandraken.
The family will observe a private graveside service at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg.
