These past six months have been a nightmare - a time of gloom and doom - a time of isolation and quarantine. A time when our days mean so little and so muach.
Today my day made me smile. We drove from Western Pennsylvania to Mount Vernon to visit the graves of my parents - my duty, my honor.
We drove around Mount Vernon with memories jumping out at me at every corner. Attending games at Mount Vernon High, attending 12 years of school at St. Vincent de Paul, going to a movie every Saturday night with my boyfriend, throwing pennies in the fountain on the Square, Montgomery Ward, Kreseges, Ringwalts, Rudins, french fries at Weese's. My wonderful dad's Corner Grille, and on and on and on, Beck's Driver In and Riverside Park.
A perfect place to grow up in.
Now today, I'm wanting to say thank you, to all of you who are working to keep Mount Vernon beautiful. The new fountain and storefronts on Main Street, the new hotel, and education buildings, and our old always remodeled "The Alcove."
Thank you all for preserving Mount Vernon for the past and a better future.
