The Lexington baseball team (11-18) started poorly with a 1-9 record, but the Minutemen battled and ended up winning the Sectional Finals. The team had a core group of seniors, who were recognized with a number of postseason accolades.

Local high schools were well represented at the track and field state finals over the weekend, with six athletes competing in their respective division’s meet.

Lexington’s strong playoff run continued, with the Minutemen toppling the Springfield Spartans 18-1 in the Regional Semifinals of the Division II softball tournament on May 22.

The Lexington girls’ track and field team took first place in the Ohio Cardinal Conference meet on May 10, with Elyana Weaver standing out as the Athlete of the Year.

Lexington and Madison Comprehensive both struggled to start the season, and both teams were looking for their first win when they went head-to-head on April 3. Senior Colton Murfield came out and pitched a complete game shutout, whiffing Rams left and right, to take a 5-0 win for the Minutemen.

The Lexington girls’ track team is coming off a 2023 season where they won the OCC and the district, as well as taking first at the Upper Sandusky Invite, Edison Invite, Marion Invite and Galion Invite.

The Lexington boys’ track team has three All-State athletes returning to this year’s team, and Coach Michael Moore sees big things especially for his relay teams.

The Lexington softball team has five returning starters and 11 letter winners coming back this season, and while Coach Todd Galownia knows the Ohio Cardinal Conference will be a battle, his team has a goal to take the title this spring.

West Holmes was well represented in the Ohio Cardinal Conference (OCC) accolades, as they had the player of the year in Keegan Uhl, coach of the year with Lindsy Belden and four others selected for All-OCC.

Mount Vernon (10-11, 7-0) battled right to the end against the top team in the Ohio Cardinal Conference in Lexington (20-2, 14-0), but the Minutemen were able to hold on for a 61-58 win over the Yellow Jackets for Coach Scott Hamilton’s 200th career win.

The Ashland Arrows won the Ohio Cardinal Conference wrestling title on Feb. 17, with three wrestlers taking individual titles, and Coach Tommy Butler winning OCC Coach of the Year.
