Mount Vernon Police blotter September 8 - 12

The Chautauqua Series continues on Oct. 12 at the Grand Hotel (12 Public Square in downtown Mount Vernon) at 7 p.m. with Ken Hammontree portraying General George Patton.

Although the city's new salary policy has only been in place for one week, police officers from other jurisdictions have already begun applying for lateral transfers to the Mount Vernon Police Department.

The following legislation was passed by Mount Vernon City Council on September 27, 2021, signed by Bruce E. Hawkins, President of Council, approved by Matthew T. Starr, Mayor, attested by Todd Hill, Clerk of Council. The legislation is on file with the Clerk of Council, 40 Public Square, Mount Vernon, Ohio for public inspection.

Mount Vernon City Council approved the creation of a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) that will enable organizations to petition to hold an event that allowed visitors to drink beer and wine in sections of downtown.
