The 35th annual Food for the Hungry drive officially begins today throughout Knox County, and will culminate in a live television and radio broadcast on Saturday, Dec. 10, from Mount Vernon’s City Hall. The goals for this year’s drive are $190,000 and 50 truckloads of food.
John B. Haxton, of Mount Vernon, passed away on his 84th birthday, Oct. 26, 2016, at Country Court Nursing Home. He was born Oct. 26, 1932, in Holmes County to Carl V. and Frances Irene (Williams) Haxton.
