TRENTON — Mearle Smith, 81 of Trenton, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016, at his residence. He was born Dec. 8, 1934, in Wildie, Ky., the son of Henry Smith and Joycie (McGuire) Smith. Mearle served in the U.S. Army and retired from the Hamilton Foundry Company. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lana (Rogers) Smith; three daughters, Kim Smith, Jenny Smith and Lynn (husband, Rod) VanCleve; seven siblings, Arnold, Kenneth, Herman, Edith, Faye, Bonnie Lou, and Esther; three grandsons, Tom, Josh and Michael; three granddaughters, Alyssa, Mary Lynn and Alanah; and four great grandchildren, Andrew, J.J., Sebastian, and Natalie. Mearle was preceded in death by six siblings, Ed, William, Leonard, Shirley, Gert and Hazel; and two grandsons, David and Jacob.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Breitenbach Anderson Funeral Home in Middletown, Ohio, with Reverend Marty Pepitone officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
