ASHLAND – The trustees of the Mohican Area Community Fund (MACF) have approved a grant in the amount of $1,000 for Hospice of North Central Ohio (HNCO).
The grant is made possible through the successful completion of MACF's annual fund-raising campaign which provides support to local charities and nonprofit organizations that serve the Greater Mohican community.
Headquartered at 1021 Dauch Drive in Ashland, HNCO serves more than 200 patients daily in Knox, Ashland, Crawford, Huron, Morrow and Richland counties who are living with chronic and terminal illnesses.
The grant will be used to support HNCO's Camp Hope children's bereavement camp. The four-day camp is held annually in June for children ages 6-17 at Pleasant Hill Campgrounds. Launched in 1996, Camp Hope has served the needs of over 1,000 grieving children who have experienced the loss of a loved one through death.
"This grant will have an immediate impact on supporting the work of a dedicated team of professional staff and trained volunteers who help facilitate this special camp," Ralph Tomassi, HNCO’s chief development officer, said in a press release. "HNCO could not provide Camp Hope free of charge without the generous support of charitable gifts and grants. We are certainly grateful for the continued support of the MACF."
As the area's oldest and largest nonprofit hospice organization, HNCO has served thousands of families with compassionate end-of-life- and palliative care, bereavement programs and services since 1988. Additionally, free continuous bereavement services are provided for hundreds of families of hospice patients and to anyone in the community experiencing grief. Call 800-952-2207 for more information. HNCO is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with over 37 years of experience and a community partner of United Way of Ashland and Knox counties.
